Welcome to Heartspace Artspace & Counselling

What is Heartspace Artspace?

Heartspace Artspace is a counselling and creative arts therapy practice based on the Sunshine Coast.  Individual and group sessions are offered by appointment.

Artspace is a heartspace exploring another way of knowing through creative expression drawing upon the wisdom of the body.  The Heartspace Artspace provides a safe, quiet, respectful space where individuals or within small groups can use paints, pastels, clay and collage to express and experience their personal journey providing another way of knowing self and soul. Using techniques drawn from art therapy, sensorimotor therapies and multimodal creative and expressive arts our inner life is given the opportunity to be known to us in its own language. While at times this is challenging, it is also playful, fun and at times surprising. The term ‘Heartspace’ came from one participant of the Artspace as an expression of their experience of the Artspace.

History of Heartspace Artspace

Artspace is now in its 14th year having begun in 2006. The conception of Artspace largely came from my own personal journey of realising how powerful and how wonderfully enlightening artistic expression is to my own sense of self, my own personal, as well as spiritual growth and healing. For years a womens group was run once a week, firstly at Stillpoint in Toowong and later in Heartspace Artspace own Studio in Woolloongabba. This group became known as HAGS : Heart Art Gathering Space. Alongside of the creative expression group, individual creative arts therapy and counselling sessions were also offered. The Woolloongabba studio closed in 2012. Heartspace Artspace and Counselling has evolved and now offers sensorimotor art therapy(Sunshine Coast), art therapy training for professionals and weekend workshops for groups.
